Gilding is the age-old application of very fine sheets of pressed gold, referred to known as “gold leaf”, to a surface.
Gold leaf is most commonly seen in architecture, furniture, and sign lettering. Ancient examples of the gilding craft encircle the globe, from the fertile Nile River basin to the Great Wall of China, and throughout the palaces of 18th and 19th Century Europe.
We offer a wide range of oil and water gilding and verre eglomise. Most of these gilded glass panels are panels for walls or furniture. We have done many gilded signage in and around New York City for private brownstone building entrances or commercial storefronts.
Pending on budged and design of each project, our leafs range from Composition Silver, Copper or Gold to White Gold, 23 Karat gold or Palladium Leaf , mostly imported from Germany or France through our long time friend and supporter, Peter Sepp of Sepp Leaf Products, Inc (www.seppleaf.com)
